SUSTAINABILITY AND CRAFTSMANSHIP

Every SMAAK | AMSTERDAM product is designed and produced with great care and attention. We use only high-quality, sustainable materials, ensuring our bags and accessories last for years. With every collection, we continuously optimize our production processes, with respect for people, animals, and the environment.

Our design studio works closely with carefully selected production partners who share the same values. Many of our suppliers are small, family-run businesses that maintain traditional craft techniques, craftsmanship often lost in modern mass production. These studios are an important part of their local communities, and our collaboration thus supports the local economy.

All our factories are independently audited for compliance with social standards and meet our SMAAK standards, including fair working conditions. We regularly visit our partners to develop new products together, ensure quality, and maintain a personal relationship.

We also collaborate with the Leather Working Group (LWG), a global organization committed to more sustainable leather production. LWG assesses and certifies tanneries based on their environmental performance, including water and energy consumption, chemical management, and waste reduction.

Finally, we consciously choose production sites that are as close as possible to the source of our materials, to limit unnecessary transportation and reduce our ecological footprint - a conscious choice that sets us apart from many other brands.
